The School of Economics and Management at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University traces its origins back to the Department of Business Management, which was established in 1985. In December 1999, it was restructured into the School of Economics and Management, and in November 2005, it was officially renamed the School of Economics and Management. Over the past four decades, the school has developed into a comprehensive institution integrating two major academic disciplines—Management and Economics—with three first-level disciplines: Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration, and Applied Economics. It also offers four professional degree programs: Master of Engineering Management (MEM), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc), and Master of Finance (MF).

Currently, the school offers eight undergraduate programs: Information Management and Information Systems, Big Data Management and Application, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Accounting, Economics, International Economics and Trade, and Finance. Among these, three programs—Information Management and Information Systems, Human Resource Management, and International Economics and Trade—are designated as national-level first-class undergraduate programs, while Economics is recognized as a provincial-level first-class undergraduate program. Additionally, the school offers two English-taught programs in International Economics and Trade and Business Administration, as well as an International Experimental Class in Accounting. The school has a student body of approximately 3,200 students, including over 2,400 undergraduates, 600 graduate students, and more than 180 international students.

The School of Economics and Management has a faculty team of over 180 members, with nearly 50% holding senior academic titles. Among them, there are 5 doctoral supervisors and over 60 master's supervisors. The faculty includes 1 National-Level Young Talent, 9 Provincial-Level Leading Talents, 3 Provincial-Level Young Talents, and 25 other Provincial-Level Recognized Experts.

The school is home to three provincial research platforms: Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Ecological Civilization (Key Research Base of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Zhejiang Province), Zhejiang Provincial Center for Green Development Research (New-Type Think Tank of Zhejiang Province), and Zhejiang Provincial Institute for Science and Technology Talent and Policy Research. Additionally, the school has one provincial-level first-class discipline—Management Science and Engineering.

Over the past five years, the school has secured 35 national research grants, including two major National Social Science Fund projects. It has published 43 academic monographs and more than 360 papers in high-impact academic journals such as Acta Psychologica Sinica, Statistical Research, and International Journal of Production Economics, including SCI/SSCI-indexed journals. The school has also received 18 provincial and ministerial-level research awards and has had over 80 research findings adopted or referenced in official policy documents.
